Chillies, are a popular ingredient in many cuisines around the world. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colours, and heat levels, and each type of chilli has its own unique flavour and culinary use. Here are some of the most common types of chillies you will find at Fruitezy and their heat rating out of 0-10:the higher the rating the hotter the chilli.
Long red & green chillies (3-4/10) These are good all-round chilli with a mild flavour. The heat various from mild to warm with colour. The red chillies on are slightly sweeter. Slice and add red chilli to all sorts of stir-fries, salads and pasta sauces. Add green chillies to salsas or curry.
Bird's Eye (7-8/10) This is a small chilli with a sharp, spicy flavour and a high heat level. It's often used in Thai cuisine and is a key ingredient in dishes like green curry and tom yum soup.
Thai Chilli (7/10) A small thinner chilli ranging in colour from green, orange to red with a distinct fiery hot chilli flavour. Use it in south-east Asian curries, soups and stir-fries.
Jalapeno (8/10) This is a medium-sized chilli with a thick flesh and a mild to medium heat level. It's commonly used in Mexican cuisine and is often added to salsas, guacamole, and other dishes.
