Starfruit, also known as carambola is in peak supply during the cooler months. These oval-shaped fruits are approx. 13cm long have five distinct ribs (when cut, the deeply angled ridges give the fruit a star shape).  The thin waxy skin is smooth, yellow in colour and edible.  Their juicy, crisp flesh is decorative and refreshing.  Yellow fruit tends to be sweet and green ones are more acidic.
