This non astringent persimmon variety can be enjoyed firm and crunchy or allowed to soften.
Select firm, bright orange fruit with smooth glossy skin. A vibrant orange skin colour indicates optimum ripeness.
Store sweet persimmon in a single layer, out of direct sunlight at room temperature. Use within1 week.
Wash the fruit, remove the stem and slice as desired. The skin is edible but is easily removed with a vegetable peeler if preferred.
Sweet persimmon is ideal sliced and served with fresh cheese like ricotta or cottage cheese or add thin crunchy slices to an autumn salad.
